As the LTL Operations Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in overseeing and optimizing all aspects of Less-Than-Truckload operations within a fast-paced, third-party logistics (3PL) environment. This role is responsible for driving operational efficiency, maintaining high levels of carrier and customer satisfaction, and ensuring profitable growth of the LTL segment. You will lead a team of LTL coordinators, dispatchers, and analysts to manage carrier relationships, streamline shipment execution, and ensure adherence to customer service expectations and contract terms. The ideal candidate possesses strong knowledge of LTL freight management, a deep understanding of 3PL dynamics, and a data-driven approach to problem-solving. Working closely with internal sales, customer service, and technology teams, the LTL Operations Manager will identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and cost reduction, while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company standards. You will also be responsible for analyzing performance metrics, managing carrier scorecards, and leading initiatives that drive operational excellence. Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day operations of all LTL shipments, ensuring timely pickup, transit, and delivery. Manage and develop relationships with national and regional LTL carriers to negotiate rates, capacity, and service commitments. Monitor carrier performance using KPIs and scorecards; implement corrective actions when necessary. Lead and mentor a team of LTL coordinators, dispatchers, and operations specialists. Collaborate with the sales team to align pricing strategies and support business development efforts. Ensure operational processes align with customer requirements, regulatory compliance, and internal SOPs. Act as the primary escalation point for service failures, delays, and exceptions; drive proactive communication and resolution. Partner with IT and process improvement teams to automate workflows and enhance system capabilities. Develop and manage departmental budgets, operational goals, and continuous improvement initiatives. Track market trends, capacity fluctuations, and rate volatility to guide strategic planning and risk management. Prepare and present operational performance reports to executive leadership and clients. Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 5+ years of experience in LTL operations, preferably within a 3PL or freight brokerage environment. Proven leadership experience with the ability to coach, develop, and manage high-performing teams. Strong understanding of LTL pricing structures, freight classification, and NMFC guidelines. Proficiency in TMS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel). Excellent negotiation and communication skills for managing carrier and customer relationships. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a results-driven mindset. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume logistics environment with competing priorities. Working knowledge of DOT regulations, EDI/API processes, and transportation compliance standards. Demonstrated ability to drive process improvement and operational efficiency through technology and KPIs.
