40 Position Summary
We are looking for someone interested in NIH funded research on understanding how the immune system interacts with gut bacteria and parasites, a process important for a healthy gut. The ideal candidate has a strong interest in biomedical research but prior experience is not required. This position will be 95% devoted to an independent research project with the goal of generating data for publication in peer-reviewed journals. This could be an opportunity to acquire skills for those interested in advancing a career in academic research or medicine. Experiments will include animal studies, sterile cell culture techniques, PCR, restriction digest, plasmid purification, gel electrophoresis, and maintaining a detailed lab notebook containing research data. Assists with laboratory duties in a research setting; performs routine tests with direction from the supervisor, manager or higher-level technician. Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Assists the investigator or higher-level technician with research studies, experiments and assays, including collection of data, preparation of solutions and setup and maintenance of equipment. Maintains files on research and assists with data entry. Assists with general lab maintenance and cleaning. Performs other duties as assigned. Working Conditions: Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards. Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals. Required Qualifications
