Maintenance Technician
Jefferson County is searching for a Maintenance Technician to join the team! The Maintenance Technician has all the skills of a general handy-man and is responsible for assisting in a variety of semi-skilled work in the maintenance and repair of Head Start buildings, located in Wheat Ridge, Arvada, and 3 separate locations in Lakewood. This is accomplished by conducting equipment and mechanical evaluations, repairing and/or replacing building parts as necessary for preventative maintenance and proper building functioning, and assisting higher skilled trades personnel with repairs, troubleshooting, and cleanup. Supporting service requests and evaluating and documenting maintenance and costs. This position is part time, working roughly 30-hours per week, 7am-5:30pm. In partnership with the Facility Maintenance team, weekly hours worked can be flexible, as long as coverage is maintained to ensure that pathways are clear and safe for patrons and the facility is ready. Note: This position supports the Head Start Buildings in Arvada, Wheat Ridge, and 3 separate Lakewood Locations starting 10/01/25. Driver's license is a must. Compensation: Hiring Range: $20 USD Hourly. Compensation will be determined based on education, experience, and skills. Essential Duties: The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs to the Head Start buildings and grounds. Duties include: Basic electrical installation and repair work in wiring for switches, outlets, plugs, cables, power circuits and appliances; Repairs lighting systems; Inspects electrical systems for unsafe conditions. Entry-Level carpentry: Performs basic rough and finished carpentry work in construction and repair of structures such as partitions, walls, doors, fences, window frames, office furniture, and selves. Basic plumbing maintenance and repair, including repairs of plumbing leaks or breaks; opens clogged lines and drains; replaces washers and other minor parts. Landscaping and grounds maintenance to include lawn mowing, trimming, weed control, seeding, fertilizing, and other outdoor related tasks. Snow and ice removal duties as required, as well as responding to building emergencies in the evening and weekends as needed. Responds to alarm calls during and after regular work hours; maintains clean, safe, and orderly sites.
