Health Information Management Analyst
The Health Information Management (HIM) Analyst handles many tasks in the HIM department. These include completing birth registry requirements, scanning and quality control of medical records, and releasing information. The specific tasks depend on the facility's complexity and staffing needs. PRN-HIM Analyst Responsibilities include but not limited to: PRN for West region that includes Irving, Grapevine and Fort Worth. This employee would float between facilities and work where needed. First would be trained on Birth Certificates to help when employees are on PTO, etc. Then would be trained on other tasks within the HIM area. Time worked could be during the day, during the evening or on the weekends, dependent on the need. Evening and Weekend hours include shift differential. There are no medical or PTO benefits for a PRN position. Essential Functions of the Role: Monitors and assigns medical record deficiencies to the appropriate provider for completion. Completes medical record suspension and monitors chart completion for coding. Processes legal birth certificates according to State laws and hospital policy. Retrieves medical records from unit, prep, scan and index documents and perform quality control of documents with EHR. Performs release of information to ensure compliance with policy and State Federal requirements. Research, troubleshoot, and resolve documentation issues on accounts. Perform Proxy processing to ensure compliance with BSW policy and State and Federal requirements. Assist physicians with completing legal death certificates according to State laws and hospital policy. Cross trained and provide backup coverage for all job functions of HIM Technician. Key Success Factors: Proficient computer and work processing skills. Excellent critical thinking skills. Ability to review errors and problem solve. Proven customer service skills. Ability to work effectively with a variety of customers; to include physician, nurses, and patients.
