Location: Dallas - Hospital Time Type: Full time Job Description: Duties/Responsibilities Accurately and completely performs all necessary tasks for proper cleaning, decontamination, assembly, packaging, sterilization, storage and issue of surgical instruments, surgical implants and patient care equipment by complying with established department policies and procedures Maintain high level of accuracy within specified standards for instrument and implant tray assembly, recording of sterilization activities including biological monitoring results and surgical case cart assembly Maintain consistent productivity levels within specified standards in the decontamination area, instrument and implant tray assembly, overall productivity, linen pack assembly, folding of towels/gowns/sheets, sterilizer loads run, and case cart assembly Clean and decontaminate surgical instruments, implants, and equipment following established procedures by operating washer disinfectors, sonic irrigator/cleaners, Steris System 1, or by following manufacturer guidelines for manual cleaning Assemble instrument and implant trays, linen packs, miscellaneous instruments, and portable patient care equipment according to guidelines of the Sterile Processing Tray and Set Manual Sterilize surgical instruments, implants, linen packs, and other patient-related items by operating ethylene oxide gas and steam sterilizers Demonstrate knowledge of all required documentation of administrative, biological, chemical, and mechanical processes for validation of sterilization Assemble surgical case carts by accurately selecting the items recorded on the case cart requisition form; consistently organize work to maximize efficiency and to complete assignments/duties on time Maintain accuracy within specified standards in instrument and implant tray assembly, documentation of sterilization biological monitoring results, documentation on sterilization records, and surgical case cart assembly Maintain productivity levels within specified standards for number of items processed in the decontamination area, instrument and implant trays assembled, number of linen packs assembled, number of towels, gowns and sheets folded, sterilizer loads run, case carts assembled, and overall productivity Utilize numerical and clerical ability to assemble correct number of components on procedure and implant trays, record issues and credits to implant inventory, and maintain accurate and complete records of sterilization Required Skills/Abilities High school graduate or equivalent preferred Sterile Processing Training and Certification required Basic computer skills helpful Conscientious with an eye for detail and cleanliness Team Player Great communication skills
