Regular/Full time The High Museum of Art's Learning and Civic Engagement Department is committed to creating audience-focused, accessible, and engaging experiences with art that allow visitors to gain new understandings of art and ideas, develop their creative and technical art-making skills, and connect more deeply with themselves, each other, the museum, and the broader world. Rooted in the museum's guiding principlesgrowth, inclusivity, connectivity, collaborationand the methods of the department, the Coordinator, Public Engagement will focus on public programs and events for visitors of all ages and stages of experience at the High Museum of Art. This role will work to engage more of Atlanta with the High, with particular focus on our Friday night and daytime Saturday programs. This is a Tuesday-Saturday position: 9am-5pm. On the first and third Friday of the month, Friday hours will be 2pm-10pm. Some additional nights are required to fulfill program responsibilities, for a total of no more than 40 hours per week. This position reports to the Associate Manager, Public Engagement, within the Department of Learning and Civic Engagement. Hiring Salary:
$43,888.00 Core Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Associate Manager, Public Engagement, coordinates an annual slate of creative, engaging public education programs inspired by the High's permanent collections and special exhibitions. Collaborates with Learning and Civic Engagement department members and other museum departments to develop and promote public programs. Coordinates all aspects of program logistics: scheduling, registration, contracting, ordering materials and supplies, and program evaluation. Communicates with artists, speakers, and contractors facilitating contracts, travel arrangements, payment, and billing. Develops and edits program descriptions and visitor-friendly copy for email, flyers, website, membership magazine and other media. Gathers information on speakers/guests, including headshots and biographies to convert into the HMA format. Participates in planning meetings; learns about exhibitions and special projects that inform program development. Program Implementation: Coordinate and implement program offerings for visitors of all ages, including: High Frequency Friday, Friday Jazz, First Saturday, Public Conversations, Art-Making Workshops, Family Programs, Performances, Screenings, Toddler Days Works cross departmentally with Audio Visual (AV) Technology, Visitor Services, Housekeeping, Security, Special Events, and other support staff to produce large programs. Assists with groups as needed. Greene Family Learning Galleries Coordination: Collaborates with Manager of Family Programs and Group Experience to facilitate the experience of Greene Family Learning Galleries, including daily maintenance, restocking, and cleaning. Reporting and Tracking: Uses and monitors program budget to achieve an efficient use of resources. Tracks spending and attendance throughout the fiscal year. Completes Post Program Reports. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: BA in art history, education, or relevant discipline. Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently. Ability to organize and express information in clear, logical sequence. Ability to negotiate and coordinate well with a variety of contractors, artists, and staff. Strong communication and interpersonal skills required for working with volunteers and the public. Diplomatic leadership skills and ability to coordinate and negotiate with various departments within the Museum. Ability to work scheduled weekend and/or evening hours to align with public program offerings. Ability to track spending and complete accounting requests. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and scheduling software. Minimum of two years of professional work experience preferred. Experience developing and implementing public programs within a museum, educational, or non-profit context preferred.
