Position Summary Under the direction of the Director of Rehabilitation Services, the Speech-Language Pathologist helps coordinate evaluation, treatment and clinical activities of speech therapy so that effective and optimum quality patient care is delivered. Position Qualifications Education/Licensure/Certification: Graduation from a school of Speech Pathology with a minimum of a Master's degree and successful completion of a clinical internship. Current possession of licensure or eligibility for temporary license under the Required Professional Experience as a Speech Language Pathologist by the Board of Medical Examiners, State of California. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification required. Knowledge: One year of professional experience as a Speech Language Pathologist preferred. Knowledge and understanding of speech therapy procedures and techniques required to provide routine inpatient and sub-acute speech therapy and dysphagia evaluation and treatment. Knowledge of infection control procedures. Skills: Ability to follow directions accurately. Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective relationships with patients and fellow employees. Able to assume responsibility for updating skills as required by hospital policy. Ability to walk and stand for long periods, as well as stoop and mechanically operate wheelchair accessories repetitively throughout the day.
