About the role The Junior Business Analyst (BA) will support the implementation, configuration, and continuous improvement of the GEL LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System). Working closely with laboratory staff, developers, and IT personnel, the Junior BA will gather requirements, analyze workflows, test LIMS functionalities, and help ensure that the system supports operational excellence in laboratory environments.Duties include but not limited to:As a GEL Junior Business Analyst, you will be responsible for Requirements Gathering & Analysis - Collaborate with laboratory users and stakeholders to gather and document system requirements. - Analyze and map current laboratory processes to LIMS capabilities. - Support the development of functional and technical specifications.LIMS Implementation & Configuration - Assist with the configuration of LIMS modules according to business requirements. - Coordinate with software vendors or developers for customizations. - Participate in LIMS data migration and integration activities.Testing & Validation - Develop test cases and scripts for LIMS functionality. - Perform system testing and support user acceptance testing (UAT). - Document issues and liaise with development or support teams for resolution.Training & Support - Create user guides and training documentation. - Provide first-level support to LIMS users and escalate technical issues as needed. - Deliver training sessions to laboratory personnel and other users.Documentation & Reporting - Maintain comprehensive documentation of requirements, workflows, and configurations. - Generate reports and dashboards using LIMS reporting tools. - Ensure documentation meets regulatory and audit standards.About you: Must be available to travel a minimum of 3-4 weeks per calendar year.Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or a related field.Internships or coursework related to laboratory informatics or systems analysis preferred. 0-2 years of experience in a Business Analyst, LIMS Specialist, or Lab Support role. 1-year experience in a Laboratory environment is preferred.Valid driver's license.Working conditions:Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time, up to eight (8) hours per business dayMust be able to stand, bend, push, pull, stoop and crouch frequently while performing the duties of this positionMust be able to lift (with both hands) and/or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move heavier loads with assistanceMust be able to interact and communicate effectively with panelistsWorking at ALS Our people are our most valuable asset and drive our success at ALS.We are a diverse community of dedicated professionals united by our passion to make a difference in the world.
