The Director of Web Experience reports to the Assistant Vice President of Marketing and leads efforts in designing, implementing, and optimizing user-centered web experiences. They maintain a strategic view of sju.edu and ensures brand cohesion across Saint Joseph's web experience and digital touch points. The Director will lead a team of web professionals and work cross-functionally within the Marketing and Communications division, to drive lead generation, elevate storytelling and enhance the university's reputation through Saint Joseph's primary marketing and communication vehicle. They will be the subject matter expert on user behavior and will leverage this expertise to map user journeys and enhance the web experience for Saint Joseph's prospective students and families, alumni and donors. The Director will maintain strong working relationships with key campus partners in Enrollment Management, Advancement, Academic Affairs and Athletics to ensure that university needs are met and aligned with the web team's efforts. This role manages a strong, reciprocal relationship with SJU's information technology services. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Spearheads large-scale projects including web redesigns and web integration efforts delivering on-budget, on-time results. Recommends and leads UX research including but not limited to user interviews, usability testing, heatmap analysis, etc to understand prospective student needs and pain points. Manages a team of web professionals including developers and web specialists who oversee the daily operations and upkeep (i.e. break-fix) of maintaining Saint Joseph's web properties, which includes internal vehicles such as the campus calendar, announcements and other timely updates. Alongside the Senior Director of Marketing, maps and analyzes the complete digital enrollment journey inclusive of advertising, web, landing page and Slate CRM touchpoints, identifying friction points and optimization opportunities. Alongside the AVP, Marketing, sets a seamless digital strategy across the web and the university's CRM system for prospective students. Leads and maintains detailed user journey maps that guide SJU's key audiences (prospective undergraduates, graduate students, transfer students, parents, etc.) seamlessly through the enrollment funnel from awareness to enrollment. Collaborates closely with the Senior Director of Marketing, Creative and Content teams to create intuitive, accessible, and audience-specific web experiences and resonate content strategies. Develops and executes a comprehensive SEO strategy in support of the university's enrollment goals. Conducts keyword research and competitive analysis to identify content opportunities that serve both user needs and search visibility. Maintains SJU's GA4 dashboard and identifies web KPIs for reporting purposes. Regularly monitors and reports on organic search and overall web KPIs, making data-driven recommendations for improvement. Manages a distributive model of web management across the campus community. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in user experience, web design, web development, or a similar marketing-related field. 10 years+ experience in web management with at least 5 years of managerial experience. Demonstrated ability to lead a comprehensive web department for a complex organization. Proven track record of improving conversion rates and user engagement metrics on web. Proficiency in UX research methodologies including usability testing, card sorting, and user journey mapping. Advanced knowledge of web analytics platforms (Google Analytics 4, Adobe Analytics) and conversion tracking. Demonstrated ability to translate business objectives into actionable web strategies. Strong analytical mindset with experience in translating performance metrics into data-driven decisions and recommendations. Strong understanding of SEO best practices, keyword research tools, and search console platforms. Deep knowledge of WCAG and ADA standards, GDPR and other privacy regulations, and general best practices for web content, with experience putting practices in place to meet these requirements. Experience working closely with IT and other internal stakeholders groups. Proficiency in HTML, CSS and in Drupal, WordPress and other content management systems. Preferred: Master's degree in a web or marketing related field. Strong understanding of higher education enrollment processes and student decision-making factors and/or sales funnel optimization. Familiarity with marketing automation platforms and CRM systems. Slate preferred. Experience with managing vendor relationships and contracts. Physical Requirements &/or Unusual Work Hours: Must have flexible availability for weekly "off hours"/evening code pushes; approximately 2-3 hours/week. Some weekends may be required.
