FOX Sports Digital is looking for a Freelance Night and Weekend Editor to join our editorial team. If you love breaking news and trending topics, possess strong sports knowledge, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, then this role is for you. We are looking for someone versatile, able to assign, write, and edit several stories cleanly and efficiently daily. The Freelance Night and Weekend Editor should have strong news judgment while also understanding the sports, teams, and stars that matter most to the FOX Sports audience. You should be passionate about working with and developing young talent. A Snapshot of Your Responsibilities Covering breaking news events, writing quickly and accurately on a tight deadline Writing and editing live blogs across multiple sports, including the NFL, college football, MLB, and soccer Writing stories around FOX and FS1 shows, podcasts, and other digital shows Identifying, pitching, and writing stories around trending topics, both quick-turn and long-form Running the news desk, assigning and editing stories Collaborating closely with fellow editors and writers, as well as members of social, programming, video, podcast and FS1 teams Passionate about creating an experience for fans that engages and promotes their desire to remain within FOX Sports' O&O products What You Will Need 3+ years of experience covering sports in a newsroom environment Strong interest in and knowledge of sports across verticals Strong interest and knowledge of FOX Sports properties, shows and on-air talent Strong knowledge of AP style, and a clear and crisp writing style Ability to work quickly and cleanly under the pressure of a deadline-driven environment Ability to be flexible and work holidays as needed Nice to Have But Not a Dealbreaker Bachelor's degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience Copyediting training/experience We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, gender identity, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law. Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $26.92-31.97 per hour for high cost labor markets such as but not limited to New York City and Los Angeles, $22.25-26.50 per hour for all other US locations.
