Clinical Nurse Coordinator, RN - 4AB - Med Surg

CNC is a front-line care provider as well as a coordinator and leader for the healthcare team. Within the nursing paradigm, the CNC applies the nursing process at the point of care through the strategic assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and evaluation of the unit as a whole to guide efforts for systematic, quality, and safety improvements. A critical component of the CNC role centers on improving effective interdisciplinary communication and coordination at the point of care. As a care-delivery-systems expert, the CNC helps patients and families navigate the complex healthcare system; advocates for both patients and families, as well healthcare providers, working within the unit, the hospital, and the system. The CNC is accountable for improving care delivery within a unique healthcare delivery setting. The core focus for CNC practice centers on maximizing safe, quality, evidence-based care within the complex systems. Essential Job Functions Maintain professional and technical knowledge Assure quality of care Protect patients and employees Document patient care services Maintain continuity among nursing teams Maintain patient confidence Identify patient care requirements Establish a compassionate environment Promote patient's independence Maintain safe and clean working environment Resolve patient problems and needs Maintain a cooperative relationship among health care teams Contribute to team effort Ensure operation of equipment Maintain nursing supplies inventory CNC functions in compliance with the specialty standards The Registered Nurse may provide direct oversight Other related duties as assigned Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities] Required Qualifications/Experience Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN) required One (1) year experience in relevant nursing field Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills Preferred Qualifications/Experience National certification in area of specialty Previous charge nurse experience helpful License, Certification & Clearances Current licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Pennsylvania required Current Basic Life Support (BLS) approved curriculum of the American Heart Association (CPR and AED) program required Act 33 with renewal Act 34 with renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal Supervisory Responsibilities This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but may serve as a coach and mentor Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need Travel may be expected locally between System locations Equal Employment Opportunity Independence Health and its affiliated companies are Equal Opportunity Employers.
