The Pre-Analytics Processing Technician is responsible for manually processing laboratory specimens, performing daily quality assurance activities, and maintaining equipment. As a part of the Cleveland Clinic Main Campus team, you will have numerous opportunities to explore educational development courses, advance the Professional Ladder, and utilize comprehensive benefits that invest in your health and overall well-being. A caregiver in this position works days, 7:00am3:30pm. Responsibilities

Receive and accession specimens into the LIS (Lab Information System).

Prepare specimens for analysis.

Perform manual processing (centrifuge, aliquoting, and routine maintenance), problem-solving functions, and issue resolution.

Assume compliance with basic regulations (temperature monitoring).

Perform QA activities (pending log audit).

Retrieve, sort, track and deliver specimens and verify receipts in the lab.

Perform basic clerical functions (i.e., answering phones).

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: High School Diploma or GED and one year of lab experience

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: Associate's degree, preferably in a science related field

Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills

Strong organizational and time management skills

Able to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements

Manual dexterity to perform specimen handling techniques and to take measurements

May require extended periods of standing, walking and/or sitting.

Handles and transports bio hazardous materials.

Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.

Must have normal or corrected vision.

Must be able to lift and/or carry up to 25 pounds.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as defined in the exposure control plan.
