Academic Advisor For Master Of Public Health Students

This position serves as the primary academic advisor for Master of Public Health students. Responsibilities include updating advising guidelines and policies in-line with curriculum changes in order to support overall advising support. This position will lead a team of academic advisors and also collaborate with School of Public Health academic programs and student affairs with emergent student issues and concerns. Primary Duties & Responsibilities: Serves as an academic advisor for a designated number of Master's students in Public Health, helping students persist to graduation, including helping students navigate School and University systems for registration and academic records. Refers students to appropriate School and University resources for academic success. Supervises and leads other academic advisors. Leads efforts and collaborates closely with academic programs to update and maintain academic and faculty advising materials, leads communication to students, staff, and faculty of advising processes and policies (including, but not limited to, registration, pre-requisite compliance, incompletes, and academic standing), and ensures that advising support is in compliance with curricular and accreditation requirements. Develops and leads trainings for advisors on advising practices that meet the needs of a wide variety of students and ensures student satisfaction with advisor availability and quality of advising. Commits to continuous quality improvement of advising practices and models. Collaborates closely with Student Academic Records and the Registrar's Office as the functional area liaison, including gaining expertise in course sequencing and curriculum changes. Collaborates with other student facing services in the Education Office, such as Admissions and Recruitment and Student Affairs to support efforts for recruiting and orienting students and creating a welcoming educational environment for all students. Perform other duties as assigned. Working Conditions: This position will be provided an office and computer. This role will need to be flexible in their working schedule. Will require some evening and weekend availability and reliable transportation. Physical Effort: Typically sitting at a desk or table. Ability to lift and carry items over 25 lbs.
