Position Summary
DESCRIPTION
The Samsung global services team is responsible for driving Smart TV and mobile services businesses by building intelligent, integrated, cross-platform services that delight and entertain users.
Samsung TV Plus is Samsung's direct-to-consumer OTT video service featuring ad-supported linear channels and ad-supported VOD. In the US, TV Plus launched in April 2018 and is currently available on 2016-25 model Samsung Smart TVs and recent Galaxy mobile devices.
As a Solutions Architect of AWS Media Services, you will architect and enhance TV Plus backend video streaming platform using AWS infrastructure and services to ensure capabilities support future worldwide growth. The role demands a mix of great technical depth, principled thinking, lead one or more technical projects and well-honed product judgment. TV Plus is in the midst of an exciting period of growth and development and seeks an experienced hand on video stream and media service architect who will drive technical evolution of the platform during this critical phase.
Role and Responsibilities
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Define, prioritize, and facilitate the rollout of scalable, modern backend platform and workflows that support large-scale linear and on demand streaming of premium video across devices Manage and prioritize the product backlog ensuring timeline for new capabilities aligns with service goals Continually evaluate effectiveness of existing workflows, systems, and integration points versus latest technologies Diagram existing and potential systems and provide supporting technical documentation Provide internal technical leadership collaborating with PM, Engineering, Operations, QA, and Programming teams Lead technical relationships with vendors, content providers, and other 3rd party partners Develop proof of concept (POC) for new solutions and validate technical and operational feasibilities Skills and Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in Engineering or Computer Science preferred 12+ years of experience in architecting highly reliable backend software services that support a large-scale consumer OTT video streaming service Experience with Content Management System (CMS), Electronic Programming Guide (EPG), Server-Side Dynamic Ad Insertion (SSAI) and working knowledge of industry advertising protocols VAST, VMAP, OpenRTB Experience with streaming media including live video streaming protocols such as RTMP, HLS, MPEG-DASH, Zixi, and CMAF Experience with multi-DRM (Playready, Widevine, Fairplay) systems and large-scale deployments Familiarity with APIs and video feeds in XML formats such as MRSS and JSON Understanding of AWS media services including MediaLive, MediaPAckage, MediaStore, and MediaTailor Experience collaborating with a globally distributed team
Compensation for this role, for candidates based in Mountain View, CA, is expected to be between $235,000 ~ $270,000. Actual pay will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience, and comparison to other employees in the role.
