Job Location: Maryville, IL Position Type: PRN (12 Hours) Salary Range: $15.75 - $24.50 Hourly Job Shift: Days Job Summary
Provides direct patient care to adult and geriatric populations, under the guidance and direction of the Registered Nurse. Works closely with the Nursing staff to complete various tasks and procedures to fulfill the patient's plan of care, while gaining valuable insight to the duties of a Registered Nurse. Job responsibilities include patient hygiene, patient mobility, vital signs, blood glucose monitoring, wound care, urinary catheter insertion and removal, and nasogastric tube insertion and removal. Job Responsibilities
Admits/Discharges/Transfers patient and completes appropriate forms Provides for patient hygiene Provides for patients food and fluid needs Assists with patient mobility Obtains and records vital signs Maintains safe environment of care Provides appropriate pressure ulcer prevention Completes simple dressing changes under the direction of the RN Inserts and removes urinary catheters under the direction of the RN Inserts and removes nasogastric (NG) tubes under the direction of the RN Utilizes the Bladder Scanner for urinary retention under the direction of the RN Performs finger stick blood glucose monitoring under the direction of the RN Performs interventions as delegated in a skillful, safe, accurate and timely manner Completes documentation accurately and in a timely manner according to hospital policies and procedures Provides age-appropriate and population specific patient care in a safe, skillful, accurate and efficient manner to primarily adult, and geriatric populations as indicated Supports patient's rights and responsibilities, including respect of cultural, ethical, and religious diversity Adheres to standard precautions and infection control standards Qualifications
Education Level: High school diploma or equivalent, concurrent enrollment in an accredited Nursing program required Certification/Licensure: Documentation of completion of at least 1 patient care clinical from an accredited nursing program, documentation of on the job training in a patient care setting equivalent to nurse assistant training, documentation of current Nurse Assistant certification by the State of Illinois, or documentation of previous Nurse Assistant certification within the past 5 years. BLS certification required Experience Requirements: Long term care, rehabilitation, and/or medical surgical care experience preferred, including student experiences
