Phlebotomist I (Immediate Hiring)
The primary role of the Phlebotomist I is to perform various duties related to specimen collection and management, while troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations to enhance efficiency. Responsibilities: Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, record maintenance data, decontaminate equipment, and update patient information. Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. Explain the process of venipuncture and specimen collection in a clear and courteous manner. Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test orders. Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts for accuracy. Package specimens for transport, ensuring samples are stored at the required temperature and integrity is maintained. Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. Attend annual department training sessions. Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries. Essential Skills: High school diploma or GED 1-2 years of experience performing venipunctures in fast-paced lab, outpatient, or hospital settings Blood draw experience across all age groups, including pediatrics and geriatrics Excellent customer service skills Comfortable working independently Phlebotomy certification is a plus but not required Work Environment: This position requires the candidate to work across two locations, with the following schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 8am to 5pm at 1 location, and Tuesday, Thursday from 8am to 5pm at the second location - Both in Greenville, SC and within 2 minutes apart. The candidate must have experience with drawing hard stick patients and be comfortable working independently at each site. The work environment is dynamic and requires adherence to specific protocols to maintain specimen integrity. Pay and Benefits: The pay range for this position is $16.00 - $18.50/hr.
