MARA
Thermal Engineer
Job Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Thermal Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of two-phase cooling systems for high-performance computing and data center applications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with two-phase cold plates, CDU systems, and boiler plates used in immersion cooling environments. Key Responsibilities: Design and optimize two-phase cold plates and boiler assemblies for immersion cooling applications Lead thermal characterization and testing of components under varying heat loads and fluid conditions Work with mechanical and systems engineers to integrate cold plates and CDU hardware into rack-scale systems Analyze thermal performance using simulation tools (e.g., CFD, FEA) and validate with experimental data Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing teams to support prototype builds and production transfer Develop test plans, oversee lab testing, and generate detailed technical documentation and reports Contribute to system-level architecture and trade studies involving fluid selection, flow control, and reliability Qualifications: Master's or Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering, Thermal Engineering, or related field 3+ years of experience in thermal/fluid systems design, ideally with a focus on two-phase flow Hands-on experience with cold plate design, CDU integration, and boiling/evaporation heat transfer Proficiency in thermal and fluid modeling tools (e.g., ANSYS, FloTHERM, or similar) Familiarity with two-phase refrigerants, fluorochemical fluids, or hydrocarbon working fluids Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of driving thermal innovation in complex systems Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams Preferred: Experience with immersion cooling deployments in data centers or high-power electronics Knowledge of reliability, safety, and environmental aspects of two-phase systems Prior experience with system commissioning and field support is a plus
