Join a fast-paced, mission-driven data science team on the Watchman release train supporting SAFFIRE, where cutting-edge computer vision and machine learning capabilities are transforming national security operations. We are looking for a highly motivated Mission Operations Specialist who excels at the intersection of technology and end-user engagement. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in ensuring our analytical tools are effectively adopted by operational analysts and deliver real mission impact. Responsibilities:
Perform end-to-end verification and validation (V&V) of machine learning models, ensuring they align with real-world use cases and operational integrity. Lead scenario-based testing and validation to confirm model outputs are accurate, interpretable, and actionable. Support data labeling and annotation workflows to enhance model precision and mission relevance. Serve as the key liaison between developers and analyst end-users to facilitate tool adoption, issue resolution, and feedback integration. Provide hands-on onboarding and ongoing user training, promoting sustained engagement and effective tool usage. Translate analyst needs into clear, actionable requirements and documentation for the development team. Identify and address adoption barriers, proactively advocating for user-centric product improvements. Communicate software changes and enhancements effectively across stakeholders to ensure mission alignment and transparency. Qualifications:
Required: Strong technical aptitude with an understanding of machine learning workflows, data integrity, and model deployment processes. Demonstrated experience working with end-users to gather, refine, and translate technical requirements. Proven ability to conduct detailed scenario testing and V&V activities within an operational context. Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer success. Ability to work independently in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with shifting priorities. Desired: Experience supporting intelligence or defense missions, particularly in analyst-facing roles. Familiarity with computer vision or data science applications in operational environments. Background in user onboarding, training, or customer success within a technical or mission setting. Exposure to Agile development environments and familiarity with tools like Jira or Confluence. Prior involvement in O&S or fielding efforts within a government contracting context.
