The Addictions Program Specialist Trainee 1 or Addictions Program Specialist 1 will: Review Credentialing applications for completeness and compliance with regulatory requirements. Conduct follow-up with applicants and maintain systems to track progress. Provide Technical Assistance through the Credentialing mailbox and applicant phone calls in a concise and efficient manner. Prepare written correspondence regarding the status of credentialing applications and other related information. Assist in the ongoing development, refinement and implementation of Credentialing Unit policies and procedures. Assist in the promotion of the credentials OASAS offers by representing the agency at conferences and/or recruitment events. Assists in special projects as assigned related to the Credentialing Unit's responsibilities. This position requires routine travel, occasionally to areas not served by public transportation (approximately 10%). Minimum qualifications: This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). For the duration of the NY HELPS Program, this title may be filled via a non-competitive appointment, which means no examination is required but all candidates must meet the minimum qualifications of the title for which they apply. At this time, agencies may recruit and hire employees by making temporary appointments. If a temporary NY HELPS employee is satisfactorily performing in the position, the appointment will be changed from temporary pending Civil Service Commission Action to permanent non-competitive and the official probationary period will begin. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), it is expected employees hired under NY HELPS will have their non-competitive employment status converted to competitive status, without having to compete in an examination. Employees will then be afforded with all the same rights and privileges of competitive class employees of New York State. While serving permanently in a NY HELPS title, employees may take part in any promotion examination for which they are qualified. Contingent Permanent qualifications: Permanent status as an Addictions Program Specialist 1 (G-18) and interested in reassignment; OR reachable for permanent appointment on the current Civil Service eligible lists for Addictions Program Specialist 1, G-18 OR Addictions Program Specialist Trainee OR eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR to be considered for appointment as an Addictions Program Specialist Trainee 1 through NYS HELPS Program: Trainee 1: A bachelor's degree or higher. Trainee 2: A bachelor's degree and one year of professional clinical or professional administrative experience in a public or private agency or program that directly provides diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention, or aftercare to a clientele with a primary diagnosis of chemical dependency. Grade 18: A bachelor's degree and two years of professional clinical or professional administrative experience in a public or private agency or program that directly provides diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, prevention, or aftercare to a clientele with a primary diagnosis of substance use disorders. *A master's degree may substitute for one year of professional clinical or professional administrative experience. Upon satisfactory completion of the 12-month training at the Trainee 1, you will automatically advance to Trainee 2.
