Job Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled Tableau Developer to support the development of interactive dashboards and data visualizations for healthcare analytics. The role will involve working with the MN APCD to analyze cost drivers, generate insights, and design user-friendly dashboards that comply with state standards. The ideal candidate will have experience in data visualization, SQL-based data processing, and working with healthcare claims data. Key Responsibilities: 1. Dashboard Development & Data Visualization:
Develop interactive dashboards in Tableau to visualize healthcare spending trends, including inpatient and outpatient facility spending, pharmacy spending, and professional services. Ensure that dashboards meet accessibility, usability, and responsiveness standards across multiple devices (computers, tablets, mobile). Collaborate with stakeholders to define visualization requirements and improve user experience. Conduct multiple iterations of dashboard designs based on feedback from the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH). 2. Data Preparation & Analysis:
Prepare and process data for analysis using SQL (AWS Redshift, PostgreSQL). Create and manage data marts and upstream analytic files for dashboard integration. Perform data cleaning, aggregation, and transformation to support healthcare cost analysis. Develop automated data refresh mechanisms and ensure data integrity in dashboards. 3. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
Work closely with MDH staff, MNIT, and other internal teams to align project goals and methodologies. Participate in requirement-gathering sessions and provide expert guidance on Tableau capabilities. Engage in meetings with accessibility reviewers, security teams, and Tableau administrators for dashboard deployment. 4. Technical Documentation & Support:
Document dashboard methodologies, data processing techniques, and design decisions. Provide technical support for six months post-launch to ensure dashboard functionality and usability. ssist MDH in preparing dashboards for public release on their website, ensuring compliance with state security and accessibility standards. 5. Compliance & Best Practices:
Ensure adherence to MNIT's architecture best practices and security policies. Follow HIP nd HITECH regulations for handling sensitive healthcare data. Support end-user acceptance testing and change control standards. Required Qualifications:
5+ years of experience working with healthcare claims data for analytical purposes. 3+ years of experience creating data marts or tables using SQL-based databases. 3+ years of experience working with state health agencies or similar organizations on healthcare data analytics. 1+ year of experience developing interactive dashboards using Tableau. Strong knowledge of Tableau Server, Tableau Desktop, and data visualization best practices. Proficiency in SQL (AWS Redshift, PostgreSQL) for data extraction and processing. Understanding of healthcare data privacy and security regulations. Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with R or SAS for statistical analysis. Familiarity with public health reporting and cost analysis methodologies. Experience integrating Tableau dashboards with AWS-based cloud environments.
