We offer competitive pay based on factors like experience, education, location, etc. and provide full benefits, PTO, and amazing company culture!"Summary This role is responsible for building, maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting precision tooling-including die cast dies, trim dies, and related fixtures-to support high-volume, high-pressure die casting production. The ideal candidate will possess advanced machining skills, a strong understanding of tool steels and heat treatment, and experience working with die cast tooling in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Key Responsibilities:Build, maintain, and repair die casting dies, trim tools, weld and restore die surface by hand and associated tooling to tight tolerances.Perform preventative maintenance and refurbishment of die cast tooling to ensure production readiness.Diagnose tooling defects (e.g., flash, porosity, parting line issues) and implement corrective actions.Lifting and rigging of components greater than 100 tons Operate and set up manual and CNC machines (mills, lathes, surface grinders, EDM, etc.) for tool making and repairs.Polish, fit, and bench components using precision hand tools to achieve proper clearances and finishes.Read and interpret blueprints, CAD drawings, and technical specifications to manufacture and modify tooling.Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize tool design, performance, and part quality.Track tooling condition, maintenance records, and usage history to support predictive maintenance programs.Assist in the installation and try-out of new dies in die casting machines and trim presses.Ensure all tooling work meets quality standards and complies with safety regulations.Qualifications:Journeyperson certification in Tool & Die Making or equivalent trade qualification.Minimum 5 years of experience in a tooling role, with direct experience in automotive die casting or similar high-pressure metal forming environments.Proficiency in the use of precision measurement instruments (micrometers, blue light scanning, indicators, gauges, etc.).Licensed and experienced operating a forklift and scissor lift and JLG.Experience with 5S practices. Strong understanding of die materials (e.g., H13, A2, D2), heat treatment, and thermal expansion in die casting applications.Skilled in operating manual and CNC machining equipment and toolroom machinery.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and 3D models.Effective problem-solving skills and attention to detail.Ability to work independently and cross functionally in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.Flexibility to work overtime, weekends, or rotating shifts as needed.Preferred Skills:Experience with tool design modifications for castability and thermal management.Knowledge of die casting machine try-outs and first-article troubleshooting.Familiarity with CAD/CAM software (Catia, NX and Tebis).Experience with hot and cold chamber die casting tools.Experience with large structural high pressure die casting.Working Conditions:Primarily based in a manufacturing plant environment with regular exposure to high temperatures, molten metal, noise, and industrial equipment.Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and walk through all areas of the plant.Sustainable Talent is a M/F+, disabled, and veteran equal employment opportunity and affirmative action employer
