Sierra7, Inc. is seeking a Senior System Engineer who will provide expert technical and systems analysis support to the Veterans Health Administration's iFAMS Deployment Team under the Financial Management Business Transformation (FMBT) Program. This position focuses on analyzing business processes and evaluating their potential integration into Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. The engineer will assess current-state workflows, recommend future-state solutions based on best practices in both private and public sectors, and ensure technical alignment with VA modernization initiatives. The role involves collaboration across system configuration, interface development, data migration, infrastructure readiness, and testing activities.
Position Responsibilities:
• Perform detailed technical and systems analysis of business processes to assess suitability for ERP integration.
• Make strategic recommendations to align VA systems and operations with industry and federal best practices.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to document functional and technical requirements supporting iFAMS deployment activities.
• Support the design and documentation of system configurations and workbooks in alignment with VA financial and operational policies.
• Contribute to interface requirement gathering, technical specifications, and support integration between iFAMS and external systems.
• Provide coordination and validation support related to infrastructure setup, system access, and deployment logistics.
• Assist in the development and execution of system validation and testing efforts, including test script creation and defect tracking.
• Participate in data profiling, validation, cleansing, and migration planning as part of system readiness.
• Contribute to the creation of technical documentation such as system architecture plans, configuration maps, and interface control documents.
• Support post-deployment activities, including cutover planning and reconciliation.
• Ensure all system deliverables comply with Section 508 accessibility standards.
Requirements
• Strong background in systems engineering and enterprise system integration, especially within large-scale ERP environments.
• Proven ability to evaluate existing business processes and recommend modernization or automation strategies.
• Knowledge of ERP architecture and deployment frameworks, particularly those relevant to federal financial management (e.g., Momentum/iFAMS, Oracle, SAP).
• Familiarity with business process modeling, system configuration methodologies, and integration standards (e.g., APIs, data exchange protocols).
• Experience coordinating infrastructure readiness, system access provisioning, and environment management.
• Working knowledge of testing methodologies, test automation tools, and defect lifecycle management.
• Excellent analytical, technical writing, and verbal communication skills.
• Experience in federal healthcare or VA-specific systems preferred.
• Knowledge of accessibility and usability standards, including Section 508 compliance.
Education & Experience:
• Bachelor's Degree (BA/BS) in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (required).
• Minimum 8 years of experience in systems engineering, enterprise systems implementation, or ERP integration.
• Prior experience supporting federal agencies, particularly the VA and large-scale IT or financial transformation programs, is strongly preferred.
