About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Automation & Controls Engineer II to join a high-performing manufacturing facility. This critical role supports plant operations and leads automation projects, with a strong focus on electrical systems, PLC/HMI programming, and process improvement.
You will work closely with the plant leadership team and another Electrical & Controls Engineer to maintain and enhance plant infrastructure, troubleshoot systems, and drive automation efficiency in a 24/5 to 24/7 operation.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Troubleshoot and resolve electrical and control issues in a continuous manufacturing environment.
  • Lead and execute automation projects, ensuring standardization and proper documentation.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to upgrade or replace obsolete systems.
  • Support corporate IT infrastructure projects and plant security systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, including NFPA 70E.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, process engineering, safety, and HR teams.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in control systems engineering in a manufacturing setting.
  • Proficiency with Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs , VFDs , and servo systems .
  • Hands-on experience with robotic platforms (e.g., ABB, Fanuc).
  • Understanding of NFPA 70E safety standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Fanuc Robotics, Cognex Vision Systems, Wonderware, Genetec .
  • Familiarity with Lean/Six Sigma , AutoCAD or Visio , and ERP systems like SAP .
  • Experience in ISO or highly structured operational environments.
Working Conditions:
  • Industrial plant setting - must be comfortable working in hot, cold, noisy, and dusty conditions.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant areas (e.g., ladders, catwalks, tight spaces).
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required at all times in production areas.
