Join Leidos as a Systems Engineer and play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the development lab environment for a high-profile DOD contract. We are looking for a skilled and self-motivated Linux System Engineer to become a key player in our dynamic, multi-platform lab environment that fosters innovation and rapid prototyping.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Manage the VMware vSphere/vCenter virtualization infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and security.
  • Oversee a Linux server environment including deployment, configuration, troubleshooting, and maintaining STIG compliance and security patching.
  • Configure and maintain load balancers, F5, and application layer gateway products to guarantee security compliance and high availability.
  • Support and manage the Windows Active Directory environment, including user account management, group policies, and a few Windows domain controllers.
  • Act as the Tier 3 escalation point for Helpdesk support, providing expert-level troubleshooting for complex IT issues.
  • Collaborate with Service Delivery and Developers in designing and staging NIPR and SIPR based deliverables.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of operations and provide practical solutions to identified challenges.
  • Manage certificates, keys, and other identity elements needed for production and lab resources access.
  • Install and configure cross-domain High Speed Guard and other hardware components.
  • Develop and manage configuration policies for email and application level gateways like SEG, Broadcom API, and Policy Manager.
  • Assist the Engineering team in building and testing proof of concept environments involving cross-domain hardware and software.

Basic Qualifications

  • Associate's degree in Information Systems or a related field with at least 10 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor's degree with 8 years of experience. Experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
  • Current IAT Level II or higher Certification such as Security +.
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance with the ability to maintain it.
  • Experience with the configuration and maintenance of Windows/Linux Servers using Ansible or other automation tools.
  • Deep understanding of deploying on-premises systems in virtualized and containerized environments.
  • Knowledge of basic networking and network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, SSH).
  • Hands-on experience in reviewing system logs to resolve issues.
  • Ability to develop solutions for complex technical challenges affecting development and production environments.
  • Experience creating and managing critical system documentation and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Proven ability to serve as a technical escalation resource for Tier 2 or Help Desk personnel.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with troubleshooting cross-domain Mission Partner data flow issues.
  • Strong knowledge in configuring and supporting Secure Email Gateway (SEG).
  • Experience writing or updating application layer Gateways (ALG) to address specific traffic issues.
  • Familiar with PDQ and Satellite software deployment tools for both Linux and Windows environments.
