HK Lighting in Thousand Oaks, CA has an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer to join our team! The ideal candidate will be a motivated and enthusiastic self-starter who is hands on with technical challenges. Our team is grounded in principles of learning fast, focusing on our customers, and quickly adapting to deliver or new opportunities. You will work collaboratively with organizational leadership on custom applications and sustaining engineering. This position is a hands-on engineering position with time spent in both the office and manufacturing floors. 

The role is onsite in Thousand Oaks, CA. 

The salary range is $85,000 to $120,000 (depends on skills/knowledge/experience). 

Role and Responsibilities:

• Collaborate in the development of exterior lighting projects to bring new or improved products to market 
n
• Utilize a hands-on approach to assembling prototype designs, creating demonstration spaces, and working closely with manufacturing 
n
• Ownership of complete project deliverables, including design documentation, order system setup, production documentation, sales tools, cost model, etc. 
n
• Create custom variations of standard products to rapidly deliver on unique customer applications 
n
• Qualify products to ensure that our offering exceeds industry standards for product quality and safety 
n
• Support the production teams in daily operations through expeditious identification of issues and thoughtful root cause analysis 
n
• Develop and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, test reports, etc. 
n
• Enhanced product quality and streamlined production processes by efficiently executing engineering change requests. 
n

Requirements: 

n
• 2-5 years of processional engineering work experience, preferably in product development or sustaining engineering
n
• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design from an accredited program 
n
• 3D CAD software expertise, SolidWorks with the ability to interpret and apply GD&T
n
• Experience working with CNC and die cast aluminum 
n
• Demonstrated success working in cross-functional teams through projects or organizations
n
• Lighting industry and optics design experience but not required 
n
• Familiar with AC and DC circuits, as well as constant current and constant voltage architectures- but not required. 
n
• Proficient in using testing equipment for design validation testing, i.e. multimeter, thermocouples, calipers, etc.
