Leidos is excited to invite applications for a Lead Civil Engineer for Substation Projects to join our dynamic site/civil department, where you'll tackle a diverse array of electric utility projects.

You'll work on site/civil design for both large and small-scale utility projects. Candidates with commercial or industrial site development experience will also be considered.

As a senior engineer, you'll conduct design reviews routinely, mentor junior staff, and actively contribute to bids and proposal development. You will also take a lead role on major client projects, ensuring top-notch quality control over design packages. Regular site visits to client substation facilities and occasional travel for client meetings and industry-related events are expected. Experience in client-facing operations like lunch and learns, and project kick-off meetings is a plus. Adherence to quality control and safe work practices is a must, along with maintaining compliance with project scope, schedule, and budget. You will be an essential member of a design team that includes engineers, designers, and drafting technicians.

Location: While the ideal candidate will reside in the Framingham, MA area, we welcome applications from all qualified candidates across the U.S.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage land development permitting including NPDES, stormwater management, and compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Conduct research and gather additional site data from various sources.
  • Design site layout, grading, and drainage systems.
  • Perform stormwater modeling and design.
  • Design erosion and sediment control measures.
  • Develop access road layouts and designs.
  • Coordinate and design utility systems.
  • Create retaining wall layouts and designs.
  • Document all supporting calculations comprehensively.
  • Execute quantity take-offs.
  • Produce construction drawings and specifications.
  • Provide construction observation and field engineering support.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines effectively.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S. degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 4+ years of relevant civil-site design experience.
  • EI/EIT certification preferred.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation OpenSite Designer software.
  • Experience with hydrologic and hydraulic modeling tools like Hydraflow and ICPR.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and other software tools.
  • Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
  • Team-oriented with excellent communication skills for effective client and staff interactions.
  • Able to manage projects and client relationships independently.
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay Range: $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
