Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Building Engineer with proven experience in commercial real estate operations. This role is responsible for maintaining the integrity, functionality, and safety of building systems across office, retail, or mixed-use properties. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver with deep expertise in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and life safety systems in high-occupancy environments.
Pay: $38.00 per hour
The pay listed is the hourly range or the hourly rate for this position. A specific offer will vary based on applicant's experience, skills, abilities, geographic location, and alignment with market data.
Shift: Monday through Friday 9:30am-6pm.
10% Travel required.

Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Maintenance
- Operate, maintain, and repair all building systems, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure optimal performance and compliance.
- Complete and maintain a daily checklist of building systems and equipment.
- Monitor and adjust Building Automation Systems (BAS) for energy efficiency and occupant comfort.
- Respond promptly to tenant service requests and ensure timely resolution.
- Coordinate with third-party vendors and contractors for specialized repairs and inspections.
- Maintain strong working relationships with tenants and property management teams.
- Ensure all work complies with local, state, and federal codes and regulations.
- Maintain accurate documentation for inspections, permits, and maintenance logs.
- Participate in emergency response planning, drills, and safety initiatives.
- Assist with capital improvement projects, renovations, and system upgrades.
- Provide technical input during planning and execution phases.
- Track and report on project progress and system performance.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; technical school or associate degree preferred.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in commercial building engineering or facilities maintenance.
- Proficient in HVAC systems, electrical distribution, plumbing, and BAS.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Skilled in the use of diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
- EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification
- Building Operator Certification (BOC)
- OSHA 10/30 Certification
- LEED or Energy Management credentials a plus
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various physical environments (e.g., rooftops, mechanical rooms).
- On-call availability for after-hours emergencies and rotating weekend coverage.
- Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperature conditions.
