Are you a talented Electrical Engineer with a passion for designing high-performance electronics for defense applications? If so, we want you to join our innovative engineering team! We are looking for a highly skilled individual focused on rugged PCB layout and design, and who may also have experience or interest in RF circuit and antenna design.

In this exciting role, you will leverage your extensive experience in electronics design to contribute throughout the entire product development lifecycle—from initial concept and prototyping to production and sustainment. Your expertise will be critical in developing solutions that meet military standards while ensuring peak performance.

Clearance: An ACTIVE Secret Clearance is required for this position. Applicants selected will undergo a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for classified information access. US Citizenship is necessary to obtain a clearance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, analyze, and validate analog, digital, and RF circuitry for embedded systems.
  • Lead PCB layout and design for high-reliability, multi-layer boards, ensuring compliance with military standards (MIL-STD) and IPC class specifications.
  • Integrate various sensors (IMUs, GPS, environmental, etc.) and communication modules (LTE, UHF, SATCOM, etc.) into embedded and modular systems.
  • Develop and integrate RF front-ends and antennas for secure communications and sensor applications.
  • Conduct schematic capture, BOM generation, layout, and produce detailed documentation for design reviews and production.
  • Work closely with firmware, mechanical, systems, and test engineers to deliver rugged and SWaP-optimized solutions.
  • Perform signal integrity analysis, power distribution verification, and electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) assessments.
  • Support environmental and compliance testing, which includes EMI/EMC, shock, vibration, and thermal evaluations.
  • Maintain design documentation, contribute to configuration management and version control.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in microelectronics design and development, emphasizing PCB layout and design.
  • Proficient in tools such as Altium Designer, Eagle, OrCAD, or similar software.
  • Strong foundation in analog/digital circuit theory and practical design.
  • Familiarity with lab testing tools like oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and VNAs.
  • Understanding of DFM/DFT/DFA best practices in a defense context.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with a keen attention to detail.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in RF circuit design, including filters, LNAs, mixers, and impedance-matched networks.
  • Knowledge of antenna design and integration for applications such as GNSS, SATCOM, cellular, and telemetry.
  • Background in the design of low power and ultra-low power embedded devices.
  • Hands-on experience with RF simulation tools like CST, HFSS, or Keysight ADS.
  • Familiarity with military microelectronics standards (MIL-STD).
  • Experience with embedded systems, microcontrollers, and interface protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet).
  • Experience in end-to-end lifecycle development for defense platforms.

Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field (Master's preferred).

Compensation: At SimVentions, compensation is based on several factors, including experience, education, training, security clearance, work location, skills, and knowledge. The projected annual compensation range for this position is $85K - $155K (USD).

Benefits: SimVentions offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription drug coverage, an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), competitive 401(k) programs, and more.
