This role offers an excellent opportunity to enhance AirPods' functionality to support Apple's broader health initiatives. Responsibilities include designing and executing empirical studies, leading data collection efforts, and developing solutions across the entire stack—from wireless foundations to iOS frameworks, embedded firmware, and application layers—in collaboration with specialists. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical and communication skills and will be responsible for: Implementing new software/firmware for prototyping, data collection, and feature development on AirPods. Collaborating with cross-functional teams to prototype ideas, develop plans, and make architectural decisions. Designing and building testable software and internal tools, working closely with QA. Diagnosing, troubleshooting, fixing, and preventing issues related to functionality, reliability, and performance. Minimum Qualifications
BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Over three years of relevant industry experience. Extensive experience in software architecture. Proficiency in languages such as Swift, Objective-C, C++, or C. Strong analytical and debugging skills. Preferred Qualifications
Over one year of experience with the iOS SDK. Expertise in firmware development on RTOS or bare-metal environments. Excellent interpersonal and collaboration skills in multi-functional teams. Strong written and verbal communication abilities. Passion for digital health and product ownership. At Apple, compensation includes base pay within a range based on skills and experience, along with stock programs, benefits, and educational reimbursement.
