Orthopedic Physician Assistant job opening in Oneida, New York Located 30 miles from SyracusePosition Information:
- Full-time, permanent position
- The hired PA will be responsible for performing medical services, but only when under the supervision of a physician and only when such acts and duties is assigned to him or her are within the scope of practice of such supervising physician, notwithstanding any other provision of law. Supervision shall be continuous but shall not be construed as necessarily requiring the physical presence of the supervising physician at the time and place where such services are performed.
- Day shifts Duties:
- Conducts physical exams, assesses health status, orders and interprets tests, prescribes medications, and treats illnesses including giving injections and suturing wounds.
- Consults with physicians as needed and refers to physicians for more complicated medical cases or cases that are not a routine part of a PAs scope of work.
- Responsible for the diagnosis and treatment of acute, chronic and long-term healthcare issues.
- Educates patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
- Works in an inter-dependent relationship with other members of the multi-disciplinary team which allows for consultation, collaboration and or referral.
- Educates patients and/or families about preventative care, medical issues and use of prescribed medical treatments and/or medications.
- Maintains accurate, legible and confidential medical records. Documents all medical evaluations, diagnosis, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with JCAOH and state regulatory standards. Completes documentation in a timely fashion as per hospital bylaws.
- Participates in ongoing continuing medical educations. Analyzes new knowledge gained from conferences, workshops, peer reviewed journals. Assimilates this knowledge into clinical practice
- Participates in ongoing quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Identifies gaps and works to develop and implement quality improvement in these areas.
- Committed to teaching and mentoring other members of the multi-disciplinary team as well as students who may be rotating through the practice.
- Participates in community outreach as opportunities are identified to the practice. Salary range for Orthopedic PA in NY 143,720 and 159,313 Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors degree and successful completion of accredited physician assistant program.
- Experience: Minimum three years of experience in medical office preferred
