Women's Health NP - Mansfield, OH Columbus 70m; Cleveland 80mFull-timeDescription Currently, we are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Women's Health Nurse Practitioner. The Women's Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) is a specialist whose focus is the gynecological care of women across the lifespan including well-woman care, health education, contraceptive counseling and prenatal care. Women's Health Nurse Practitioner practice under the rules and regulations of the Ohio Board of Nursing.Qualifications
- Current unrestricted Ohio license to practice.
- DEA registration.
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate clinical privileges/credentialing applicable to ambulatory and inpatient privileges as necessary. Essential Job Duties:
- Demonstrate high level of autonomy/expert skill in diagnosis/treatment of complex responses of individual/families/communities to actual or potential health problems.
- Conduct comprehensive health assessments.
- Provide health and wellness counseling. - Contraceptive care - STD screening and follow up - Pregnancy testing and care before, during and after pregnancy - Evaluation and treatment of common infections
- Care for women before and after menopause.
- Work with clients/families to develop comprehensive/realistic plans of care which maximize.
- Expected to provide a budgeted number of visits annually that is calculated each year and provided this is minimal expectation.
- Utilization of highly developed clinical/interpersonal communication skills.
- Implement plan of care effectively.
- Encourage clients to assume responsibility for their own health.
- Collaborate with other health care professionals and collaborating physicians.
- Make referrals and order tests efficiently and appropriately to meet needs of clients
- Perform case management/coordination of care to assume continuity.
- Observe and conform to standards of the Hospital, including maintaining current patient records.
- Observe/conform to all laws, customs/ethics applicable to the profession of nursing.
- Participation in Health Center staff meetings.
- Participation in other meetings as required.
- Participation in peer review audit of charts as designated by Chief Medical Officer.
- Identify/implement strategies to maximize role.
- Participate in good faith in the peer review and risk management programs of the hospital
- Participate in an equal share of on call duties and coverage of other providers.
- Be a positive role model for all health center staff.
- Other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Comprehensive Knowledge of Women's Health: - In-depth understanding of women's health issues across the lifespan, including reproductive health, contraception, prenatal care, menopause management, and gynecological conditions.
- Advanced Assessment and Diagnostic Skills: - Proficiency in conducting comprehensive health assessments, including pelvic exams, breast exams, and assessing gynecological and obstetric health concerns. - Skill in interpreting diagnostic tests and results, such as Pap smears, mammograms, and pelvic ultrasound.
- Reproductive Health Management: - Ability to provide contraceptive counseling and management, including prescribing and administering birth control methods. - Knowledge of fertility awareness methods, intrauterine devices (IUDs), contraceptive implants, and other contraceptive options.
- Prenatal and Obstetric Care: - Competence in providing prenatal care, including prenatal counseling, monitoring fetal development, and managing common pregnancy-related conditions. - Ability to conduct prenatal screenings, interpret results, and collaborate with obstetricians and other healthcare providers for coordinated maternity care.
- Gynecological Care and Treatment: - Expertise in diagnosing and managing gynecological conditions such as menstrual disorders, sexually transmitted infections (STIs), pelvic pain, and abnormal Pap smears. - Skill in performing gynecological procedures, such as colposcopy, endometrial biopsies, and IUD insertions and removals, abcess and Bartholin cyst management.
- Patient Education and Counseling: - Effective communication skills to educate patients about women's health issues, treatment options, and preventive measures. - Ability to provide counseling and support to patients regarding reproductive health choices, prenatal care, and menopause management.
- Collaboration and Interdisciplinary Care: - Collaboration with obstetricians, gynecologists, primary care providers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive and coordinated care for women. - Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team, advocating for patients' needs and preferences.
- Cultural Competence and Sensitivity: - Awareness of cultural diversity and sensitivity to cultural beliefs and practices related to women's health. - Ability to provide culturally competent care and adapt interventions to meet the unique needs of diverse patient populations.
