IS Systems Engineer
JOB SUMMARY:
The Systems Engineer is primarily responsible for the day-to-day performance of NMC Information Systems and applications. Provides escalation support and technical oversight to NMC IS Support and Applications Analysts. Responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of Information Systems. Work closely with the Network and Security Engineer to evaluate and make recommendations for network, storage, bandwidth, and infrastructure capacity and performance planning. This includes working with vendors to develop final quotes and Statements of Work related to expansion, replacement, upgrade, and new system purchases. The Systems Engineer
The Systems Engineer will be a leader within the Information Systems Security Team, ensuring prompt remediation of security concerns. Works closely with the Director of IS Operations and the Network Engineer to ensure appropriate security defenses are in place, solid patch management procedures are followed, and security systems are running optimally. This includes providing oversight of annual penetration testing and compliance inspections and management of NMC owned domains.
The Systems Engineer will identify opportunities for the use of existing, and emerging technology across the organization to create efficient and safe workflows and explore innovation opportunities as a formal part of this position. The Systems Engineer may program solutions or coordinate with vendors to create applications or tools using Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server Tools, Power Automate, Power Apps, or other appropriate development tools for ETL projects, data reporting, archives, and conversions.
Systems Engineer will conduct technical reviews, evaluate and make recommendations for contracted vendor support and systems purchases, upgrades or replacements, and perform technical review of contracts and Statements of Work.
PRE-REQUISITES:
Education: Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Information Technology or Information Systems preferred
Experience: Minimum of 5 years' experience in Information Technology environment is preferred. Healthcare experience highly desirable.
Other Skills:
Certifications: Valid VT driver's license as travel to other sites and hospital clinics may be required. Additional Information Systems certifications such as MCDBA, CCNP, CCNA, CCSP, CPHIMS, Security +, VCP desirable

SCOPE:
Machinery or Equipment Used: Computer Servers, PC's, and peripheral equipment to include Voice and Data switching equipment, copier, fax machine, modems, printers and scanners. Network and telephony monitoring tools and meters.
Physical Demands: Manual dexterity and mobility. Moderate physical activity with some heavy lifting/carrying of 35lbs (cases of paper, computer equipment, boxes).
Working Conditions: Primarily temperature-controlled areas, occasionally subjected to irregular hours, and on-call rotation, Travel between buildings is required. This will be a hybrid position with a flexible remote and on-site percentage that will vary with current work priorities

• Provides outstanding customer service to NMC and its affiliates. Continuously find ways to improve processes, end-user experience, and efficiency.
2) System Performance:
• Keeps NMC Systems infrastructure and datacenter operating at optimal levels through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and sound change management, makes complete recommendations for systems upgrades and replacements.
3) Technical Knowledge:
• Demonstrates systems expertise and continuously improves existing knowledge.
• Identifies new and unique opportunities to meet the goals of the organization and serves as our Systems and Applications subject matter expert.
4) Security
• Monitors and maintains enterprise security infrastructure through effective "defense in depth" techniques.
• Evaluates new technology and makes recommendations for upgrade and replacement of Systems and Applications to support compliance with Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) policies and procedures.
5) Mentorship:
• Leads and mentors Applications and Support Analysts. Develops team skills and provides tier three support to all Information Systems staff.
