Under direction of the Early Childhood Coordinators and the site based Early Childhood Intervention Specialist, the Prekindergarten Associate will deliver the prescribed general education curriculum to children in the classroom through direct instruction and co-instruction.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education from an accredited college or university required.
  • Ohio State Board of Education License for Prekindergarten.
  • Previous experience working with children age 3-5 in an inclusive program preferred.
  • Clean criminal background.
  • Three (3) positive professional references.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Deliver the general education curriculum (e.g., play, small group projects, open-ended questioning, group discussion, problem solving, cooperative learning, and inquiry experience) and learning across contexts (indoor, outdoor, home-based).
  • Assist the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist in adapting curriculum and instructional strategies to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Assist the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist in the implementation of the social emotional curriculum, practices and procedures.
  • Assist Early Childhood Intervention Specialist with documentation requirements including assessing student growth and collecting data to monitor student progress.
  • Help maintain accurate and complete student records; help prepare and submit required reports on time.
  • Assist Early Childhood Intervention Specialist and students with tasks related to daily activities (e.g. toileting, snack, handwashing, and helping load and unload buses).
  • Perform routine clerical tasks and assist with maintenance of the classroom as directed by the Early Childhood Intervention Specialist or Early Childhood Coordinator(s).
  • Maintain a safe classroom environment; report any safety concerns to Early Childhood Coordinators.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Stand for periods of time, move around the work site, move from one work site to another, sit at a desk.
  • Stoop, kneel or crouch to assist students.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move materials up to fifty pounds.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders by talking and listening.
  • Operate a computer and other technology devices.
  • Read and analyze data (close visual acuity).
