Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Senior Mainframe Systems Programmer to support our exciting projects involving the z/OS operating system and related system software. In this key role, you will install, test, implement, and maintain z/OS systems, while also debugging and tuning system software to ensure optimal performance. This is not an Applications Programming position, so hands-on experience with z/OS components and supporting products like tape management, scheduling, and security is essential.
Key Areas of Focus for this Role
Participate in On-call Schedule.
Incident / Problem resolution.
Responsibilities and Tools Involved:
Incident, change, and problem handling.
Configuration and customization of the systems.
Setup of system parameters.
Communication with vendors for support and issue resolution.
Contribute to technical projects and initiatives.
Demonstrate a solid understanding of z/OS and its related software products.
Perform PARMLIB configuration and JES2 customization.
Support problem-solving and implementation of changes in z/OS environments.
Utilize TSO/ISPF, SDSF, and JCL effectively.
Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills.
Display analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
Ideal Candidate Profile
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
Over 10 years of experience in a mainframe environment within a large enterprise, or a combination of education and relevant experience.
A Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.
In-depth knowledge of z/OS installation and maintenance, including SMP/E.
Proficient in TSO/ISPF, SDSF, JCL, and Unix System Services (USS).
Familiarity with USS file system management and security.
A team player with the ability to handle stress effectively during Major Incidents or emergencies.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Strong customer service orientation at a management level.
Self-motivated with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficient planning and organizational skills.
A proactive approach and eagerness to learn.
Other Desired Qualifications
Ability to perform advanced Mainframe System Programmer tasks.
Experience with moderately complex ISV installations.
Knowledge of z/OS security and systems programming functions.
Understanding of z/OS services structure, Parallel Sysplex, and Catalog management.

As of now, the estimated salary range for this role is between $80,000 and $148,000 annually, dependent on experience and other factors. In addition to salary, we offer an annual bonus plan and potential for equity grants.
