Job Description Summary:
As a Lead Cloud Architect for the GE Aerospace Shared Technology Services-Digital Workplace team, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure to enhance our product portfolio across key services such as Collaboration, Document Management, Email, and more. This position involves developing secure, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions tailored to meet business needs and adhere to industry best practices. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation, ensure operational excellence, and deliver value to GE Aerospace’s global user base exceeding 60,000 users. Essential Responsibilities: Develop and implement cloud architectures on AWS and Azure that are secure, scalable, and compliant, supporting business-critical applications for Digital Workplace. Collaborate with Product, Dev, Operations, Cloud, and Cyber teams to ensure cloud solutions meet business requirements and compliance standards. Design strategy for Infrastructure as Code (IaC) processes and establish Standard Work for reliability and consistency. Support the DevOps team by designing and developing IaC scripts and automating deployments. Lead the separation and migration of Digital Workplace applications from GE Corp AWS infrastructure to GE Aerospace AWS infrastructure, ensuring minimal disruption and optimal performance. Guide and define best practices for our Docker/Kubernetes-based Cloud environments, including AWS EKS and Azure AKS. Utilize monitoring and observability tools like New Relic, Grafana, or ELK stack to maintain system reliability and performance. Implement automated lifecycle management technologies at scale to ensure infrastructure health and compliance. Advocate for a DevOps mindset, mentor team members on cloud technologies, and promote the adoption of best practices throughout the organization. Evaluate emerging cloud technologies and trends, aligning them with GE Aerospace's vision and strategy to foster innovation. Create visibility for our Cloud environments and communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding application hosting. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of professional experience, or an Associate's degree with minimum of 13 years of experience, or a High School Diploma with a minimum of 15 years of experience. At least 5 years in public cloud environments such as AWS and Azure. A minimum of 4 years managing infrastructure in AWS. At least 4 years of experience in DevOps and infrastructure domains. 4 years leading large-scale enterprise projects in Cloud environments. Desired Characteristics: Strong technical expertise in cloud technologies, with primary roles as an infrastructure architect or principal cloud engineer. Solid understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and orchestration platforms (AKS/EKS). Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, or Go, along with scripting experience (Bash, PowerShell). Knowledge of operating systems, especially Linux, and experience in system engineering. Ability to influence and create innovative designs and methodologies for large-scale systems. Proficient communication and collaboration skills, with a focus on cross-functional engagement and data-driven solutions. This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information.
