The Role As a Mid-Level Information Security Engineer, you will play a critical role on our Fusion Center Corporate Firewall Operations (CNFW) team. Your primary responsibility will be to manage and secure the Lumen Enterprise, including maintaining Firewall and VPN Operations. In this dynamic role, you will work closely with various stakeholders to assess current capabilities and anticipate future needs. Main Responsibilities: Serve as the first point of contact for all inquiries related to firewalls or VPNs. Ensure network security by configuring firewall rules according to company policy and implementing best practices. Address device issues identified through alerts, tickets, and communication channels. Conduct initial assessments and troubleshooting for assigned incident tickets. Perform operating system upgrades to address vulnerabilities and enhance security. Adhere to standard operating procedures for maintaining compliance and technical accuracy. Manage a variety of firewall vendor hardware across different environments. Submit and support Change Management requests as necessary. Provide firewall security incident logs to Cyber Security personnel as requested. Set personal performance objectives that align with corporate goals. Participate in the on-call rotation and adjust to varying shifts as needed. What We Look For: Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Ability to understand detailed technical documentation, including security and network diagrams. Familiarity with information security fundamentals and risk management concepts. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical issues to diverse audiences. Preferred Qualifications: 2+ years of experience in Network Operations, Security Operations, or similar areas. Experience in network and firewall administration and implementation. Familiarity with management platforms, threat analytics engines, IDS/IPS, and anti-virus software. Proficiency in network monitoring tools for initial incident assessments. Experience with Microsoft, Mac, or Linux operating systems. Knowledge of cloud-based firewalls, including those from Amazon, Google, or Microsoft. Understanding of next-generation firewalls and experience in large enterprise networks. Programming experience in scripting languages such as Python or Perl is a plus. Willingness to obtain relevant professional/technical certifications (e.g., CISSP, GSEC). Compensation: Compensation details reflect expected salary ranges based on current data and may vary by location, skills, and experience. Base salary ranges include: $66,375 - $88,500 in many states, including AL, AR, FL, GA, MS, and WI. $69,694 - $92,925 in states such as CO, HI, and MI. $73,013 - $97,350 in states, including CA, IL, and NY.
