Position Summary Samsung Ads is a leading innovator in advertising technology, dedicated to providing cutting-edge solutions that optimize ad performance and deliver exceptional results for our clients. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced front-end staff engineer to join our dynamic team and help shape the future of the ad tech industry. We seek a talented Staff Engineer to play a pivotal role in enhancing our platform's performance advertising capabilities. As a Staff Engineer, Software Engineering, you will be part of a team that owns core ad bidding and optimization for Samsung Ads' advertising platform. The team manages mission-critical modules impacting revenue and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities include managing, growing, and optimizing access to high-quality programmatic ads supply. Our tech stack includes Erlang/OTP, Elixir, Go, C/C++, Nginx, Aerospike, Kafka, Athena, Airflow, and Druid. Role and Responsibilities Create enterprise-level distributed server infrastructure for mission-critical operations. Research and develop algorithms for distributed consensus, replication, consistency, availability, and scalability. Make difficult design trade-offs and decisions regarding features, schedule, quality, and cost. Seek optimal technology solutions from internal and external options, applying appropriate methodologies to identify issues. Take primary accountability for major project elements, determine required tasks, and be responsible for project outcomes. Design, develop, and validate the effects of designs, processes, or product enhancements across projects. Proactively establish measures and standards for project, product, and process quality. Follow all team processes and technical standards. Some travel may be required (up to 10%). Skills and Qualifications Typically requires at least 8 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years. 3 years of experience in programming with Erlang. Experience designing and building highly scalable, high throughput distributed systems. Solid foundation in systems programming, computer science, and software engineering. Proactive attitude, ownership, and responsibility for tasks, driving to completion with minimal support. Collaborative spirit with willingness to mentor others. Curious mindset that enjoys building and appreciates craftsmanship in software. Hands-on experience working in a multithreaded environment. Nice to Have Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum. Functional programming experience. Experience mentoring and guiding junior developers. Previous experience as a lead. Experience with version control tools like Git and collaboration tools like JIRA. Additional Information California and New York only Salary Range Pay Transparency: Compensation for this role in Mountain View, CA, or New York, NY, is expected to be between $200,000 and $235,000, depending on skills and experience.
