We are looking for a highly skilled Database Administration and ETL Expert to join our team and support the U.S. Department of Education, Office of Inspector General. The ideal candidate will possess extensive technical knowledge in Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server, along with proven experience in developing ETL processes, data warehousing, and secure data transmission.
Position Overview:
In this critical role, you will manage the full lifecycle of database administration, execute system analysis and design, and ensure optimal database performance while adhering to federal data security standards. Key Responsibilities: Administer and maintain complex Oracle and MS SQL Server databases. Develop and oversee scalable ETL processes, focusing on data transformations and loading strategies. Design, implement, and support data warehouses and data marts. Manage secure data transmission and integration with internal and external systems, utilizing Fusion Middleware or similar technologies. Execute comprehensive Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) tasks including requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, and deployment. Optimize database performance, automate routine tasks, and ensure system availability and readiness for disaster recovery. Utilize tools such as SQL/PLSQL, SQL*Loader, Data Pump, and Shell scripting to manage data workflows effectively. Collaborate with business analysts, developers, system engineers, and project managers to facilitate seamless system integration. Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior team members. Required Qualifications: 6-10 years of experience in database administration and ETL development. Expertise in Oracle (11g/12c/19c) and Microsoft SQL Server (2016 and above). Strong understanding of data warehousing architecture and methodologies. Proficiency in SQL/PLSQL, SQL*Loader, Data Pump, Shell scripting (Bash/Korn), and Fusion Middleware. Demonstrated experience executing projects through the SDLC in a federal or regulated environment. Experience with high-availability setups, backups, and disaster recovery strategies. Excellent communication skills and experience working in collaborative teams. Proven ability to mentor and guide junior DBAs or developers. Security and Education Requirements: Active T4 Public Trust clearance (required). Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field (required).
