As part of the AWS Identity and Governance teams, you will work at the forefront of identity, authentication, and authorization technologies, empowering our customers with robust access and governance controls across their AWS environments. In the role of Senior Security Engineer, you will take on a leadership position in designing, developing, and implementing innovative security solutions that protect our worldwide infrastructure, products, and customer data. This position blends deep security knowledge with advanced software engineering skills to create scalable security systems. Key Responsibilities: Lead complex security initiatives across multiple service teams, influencing architectural decisions to enhance organizational security posture. Develop automated security testing frameworks and a continuous security monitoring system. Construct prototypes and proofs of concept to explore exciting new security technologies. Design and implement scalable security solutions in languages like Java, Python, or Go. Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, establishing best practices for security engineering. Collaborate with software development teams to integrate security seamlessly throughout the development lifecycle. Lead responses to security incidents and drive root cause analysis for complex events. Influence product roadmaps with your security expertise during the planning phases. Technical Leadership: Steer technical direction for security projects affecting diverse teams or organizations. Create and maintain technical design documents for security systems and controls. Review and approve security architecture proposals and implementation strategies. Conduct security reviews for critical systems and applications. Partner with Product, Operations, and Development teams to elevate security measures. Represent security engineering in high-level technical discussions. Mentor junior security engineers, enhancing team capabilities. About Our Team: The Identity Security team collaborates with AWS Identity, Governance, and Infrastructure as Code services to mitigate risks throughout the development lifecycle. Our dedicated engineers work hand-in-hand with software teams to prevent security issues from design through deployment. We proactively identify potential threats and support teams in swiftly addressing any security challenges. We also drive widespread security enhancements across various services, reinforcing a culture of security and continuous improvement. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience. A minimum of 5 years in software development and system/network security. Experience managing large-scale technical projects and driving organization-wide changes. Expertise in Authentication/Authorization practices, internet protocols, and operating system security. Experience with AWS product architecture, security, and operations. Proficient in threat modeling and secure coding practices. Knowledgeable in service-oriented architectures and web services security. Familiar with one mainstream programming language, preferably Java. Preferred Qualifications: Master's or PhD in Computer Science or related field. Experience on a Red Team or with proactive security practices. Strong analytical skills and system design abilities. Proven track record of achieving ambitious goals in a dynamic environment. Exceptional leadership, teamwork, and collaboration skills. Strong sense of ownership and initiative. The base pay for this position ranges from $143,300 to $247,600, depending on geographical location and individual qualifications. In addition to base pay, a comprehensive compensation package will be provided, including equity, sign-on bonuses, and a wide range of benefits. This position will remain open until filled.
