Job Summary:

The Staff Hardware Technical Project Manager is responsible for the planning, and execution of software and hardware development for avionics LRU’s developed internally at the company or outsourced to a supplier. The Staff Technical Project Manager collaborates with cross functional project team from engineering, operations, and quality to define the project plan, milestones, project risks, and leads the execution effort to effectively and efficiently deliver projects according to plan. This position works with internal stakeholders and external subcontract management to foster an open communication while implementing project-based processes to bring increased efficiency in the delivery of all projects.

Core Responsibilities:

Responsible for leading complex projects that will require very sound project management, influencing, collaboration and negotiation skill

Collaborate with cross functional teams to define project plan, milestones, risks, hardware demand, Hardware Kanban board, and Document tree

Coordinate with cross functional teams to drive the required corrective actions to execute the project plan

Work with internal stakeholders and supplier management to foster an open communication channel to drive the project execution to the plan

Track and report project status, risks, drawing tree status, dashboarding, and present results to senior leadership teams on a recurring basis

Facilitate internal design reviews, prototype and production unit tear down sessions, hardware design refinement sessions, and hardware Kanban review sessions

Plan prototype units and work with the engineering buyer to procure long lead material, and coordinate with engineering to get the prototype units built

Collaborate with development and delivery product owners to drive the hardware project needs

Define the SOW, Contract terms and conditions, and negotiation strategy for non-recurring and recurring costs, for all the buy LRU’s and leading the negotiation sessions with supplier management

Collaboration with OEM management and OEM technical teams on as need basis to drive the project execution

Facilitate the risk management session to uncover project risks and define mitigations working with project team

Ensure understanding of issues and present clear rationale by speaking to mutual needs and win-win solutions

Use two-way communication to influence outcomes and ongoing results

Leverages relationships across the business to drive outcomes

Motivate and push teams for results and completion by example and team spirit

Adapt quickly to new scenarios that require specific skill sets and have high levels of ambiguity

Think critically about the task at hand and maintain a good understanding of problems regarding the bigger picture

Effectively manages risk and weighs the pros and cons of important decisions that affect multiple team members

Optimization of project likelihood of success through the application of Project planning, project monitoring, organizational management, change management, and risk management

Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related field

10+ years of experience working in a technical field

6+ years of experience in project management or similar technical leadership role

In-depth knowledge of the components involved in building electronic systems: boards, mechanical parts, cables, software – and their manufacture

Familiar with phase gated development process

Benefits

The starting pay range for this position is $112,100 - $134,500 per year however, base pay offered may vary depending on the level of the position, skills, experience, job-related knowledge, and location.
