Job Description 1898 & Co., a division of Burns & McDonnell, is seeking a Senior Solution Architect focused on Operational Technologies to provide utility grid modernization consulting services for electric utility clients. The role involves joining the Enterprise System & Integration team, delivering high-value enterprise solutions with leading technologies. The candidate should possess strong electric utility business and technology acumen, and provide consulting on solutions such as Advanced Distribution Management Systems (ADMS), Distributed Energy Resource Management Systems (DERMS), IEC-61850 Digital Substations, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), and related networks including LAN, WAN, and FAN. Candidates must have strong project execution, leadership, collaboration, and communication skills, with a focus on continuous improvement and enterprise innovation. The Senior Solution Architect will: Lead the design, development, architecture, and implementation of complex technology solutions. Oversee analysis, design, build, testing, and deployment activities. Manage program estimation, planning, and budgeting. Support project execution using methodologies like Waterfall and Agile. Ensure project scope, quality, and deadlines are met. Maintain overall project quality and client satisfaction. Mentor team members and support department development. Manage solution and architecture design, ensuring proper integration. Lead quality assurance and deployment processes. Build and maintain client relationships, identify new business opportunities. Participate in sales, marketing, and proposal development. Ensure compliance with safety and company policies. Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Business, Computer Science, or related field, with 7+ years of experience (experience may substitute for degree). Skills in data architecture, cloud architecture, middleware, and communications. Understanding of IT and OT technologies, with experience in enterprise solutions. Experience with project methodologies and industry-standard tools. Experience with electric utility systems like OMS, ADMS, AMI, DERMS, IEC-61850, SCADA, and network infrastructure. Strong leadership, analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. This position is based in the US with travel up to 25%. The role is full-time, with locations in Kansas City, Phoenix, Fort Worth, Houston, Orlando, Austin, Atlanta, and Dallas.
