Job Description We are seeking a PCIe expert with a strong background in ASIC and Firmware development to define, architect, and deliver next-generation solid-state drive (SSD) products. This role involves designing advanced SSD subsystems, writing detailed specifications, and leading debugging efforts on PCIe-related issues using trace analysis. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize technical tradeoffs and accelerate product time to market. This position requires both hands-on technical expertise and strategic system-level thinking. You will also guide architecture decisions and mentor a small engineering team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Architect and define PCIe/NVMe-based SSD systems in collaboration with ASIC, firmware, and hardware teams Write detailed specifications and technical documentation for subsystem components Lead efforts to debug PCIe issues using traces, protocol analyzers, and lab equipment Evaluate and guide design tradeoffs across performance, power, cost, and schedule Collaborate with firmware and ASIC engineers to ensure system integration and compatibility Drive end-to-end product development from concept to mass production Analyze and incorporate next-gen PCIe features into product architecture Build and mentor a small team of engineers focused on PCIe subsystem innovation Qualifications: Deep expertise in PCIe protocols and architecture (Gen4/Gen5/Gen6) Strong experience with ASIC and/or firmware development Ability to analyze and debug PCIe protocol traces using tools like protocol analyzers and oscilloscopes Experience in writing and reviewing low-level firmware in C/C++ and/or Python Solid understanding of SoC design and processor architectures (e.g., ARM, ARC) Familiarity with NVMe, DDR, and power management subsystems Proven experience in specification writing and system-level design Ability to work independently, take ownership, and lead technical direction Additional Information: Sandisk is committed to providing equal opportunities and will not discriminate based on various protected characteristics.
