We're looking for an experienced and forward-thinking Agentic Systems Architect to help design and deliver the technical backbone of our agent-based AI systems. In this critical role, you'll partner closely with AI Transformation Specialists to turn high-level process visions into real, orchestrated workflows using agents, tools, and APIs. Your work will power cutting-edge automation initiatives across a fast-evolving ecosystem. What You'll Do AI Architecture & Workflow Design Translate AI transformation strategies into actionable technical architectures Build and iterate on agent orchestration workflows and prototypes Perform QA on technical implementations to ensure delivery meets business intent Solution Discovery & Assessment Identify and evaluate existing agents, tools, and APIs aligned to automation needs Conduct feasibility studies including benchmarks, integration complexity, and scalability Contribute to the broader discovery pipeline by surfacing viable external and internal solutions Capability Monitoring Stay on the pulse of rapidly evolving agent/tool/API ecosystems Maintain and update capability matrices mapping available solutions to business needs Surface new opportunities enabled by emerging technologies Technical Gap Analysis Document where required agent capabilities don't yet exist Collaborate with stakeholders to drive build vs. wait decisions Provide engineering-ready specifications for internal development when needed Who You Are A Systems Thinker You bring a structured approach to complex problems. You naturally map interdependencies between agents, APIs, and orchestration flows-and translate abstract concepts into scalable solutions. A Hands-On Technical Strategist You're fluent in the language of modern API architecture, agent frameworks, and microservices. You prototype. You test. You guide implementation with a strong sense of accountability to business outcomes. A Curious Explorer You're deeply engaged in the fast-changing landscape of AI tools and automation platforms. You constantly scan the horizon for what's new, what's better, and what's next. A Translator Between Business and Engineering You can speak both languages. You thrive in cross-functional collaboration and bring clarity to complexity for stakeholders on both sides. What You'll Bring Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field 7+ years of experience in API integration, automation engineering, or systems architecture Deep knowledge of agent-based frameworks, orchestration models, and modern API standards (REST, GraphQL, Webhooks) Strong technical evaluation and documentation skills, with attention to detail and system-level thinking Experience gathering and translating business requirements into scalable, technical implementations Proficiency in at least one programming language for prototyping or agent testing Collaborative mindset with experience working between business, product, and engineering teams Bonus Points Experience implementing AI agents or automation flows Familiarity with major AI platforms and ecosystems Background in enterprise integration and API governance Passion for building what doesn't yet exist #LI-VM1 #LI-HYBRID At MERGE, we're committed to fostering an environment where our team members can thrive in both their careers and personal lives, ensuring they feel supported and empowered to succeed. The salary range for this role is $185,000 - $200,000 , based on the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and other relevant factors.
