Nuro
Nuro is a self-driving technology company on a mission to make autonomy accessible to all. Founded in 2016, Nuro is building the world's most scalable driver, combining cutting-edge AI with automotive-grade hardware. Nuro licenses its core technology, the Nuro Driver, to support a wide range of applications, from robotaxis and commercial fleets to personally owned vehicles. With technology proven over years of self-driving deployments, Nuro gives the automakers and mobility platforms a clear path to AVs at commercial scale, empowering a safer, richer, and more connected future. About the Team The Devices Platform team's mandate is to lay the foundation of Nuro's onboard sensor pipeline software for our Autonomous Vehicle (AV) platform, including device drivers, inter-device protocols and APIs. Sensors and compute hardware are the eyes, ears, and brains of our self-driving robots. We are creating the hardware-agnostic platform for our perception and autonomy SW stack to realize the full potential of our onboard network of sensor devices in reliability, quality, and performance. Our projects have high impact and high visibility within Nuro. Our team works with several internal stakeholders and external suppliers to define, evaluate, integrate the next generation HW platform for Nuro's products and to build the tooling for continuous testing and validation. About the Role Nuro's Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) systems combine the vehicle's full sensor suite, compute hardware, and onboard network, running the Nuro Driver autonomy stack, with cloud technologies for test automation, data analysis, and dashboards. In this role, you will develop and extend the Python-based HIL framework, use AI tools to generate test cases, analyze large-scale test results, and root-cause problems. You will accelerate AV development via scaling the virtuous feedback cycle between in-lab simulation and on-road deployment. About the Work Design, develop, and manage HIL systems for simulating AV systems with the full sensors, network switching fabric, and compute HW in the lab Implement automated testing frameworks for the Nuro Driver autonomy stack Leverage generative AI to create manufacturing End-Of-Line (EOL) tests and field diagnostics for scaled vehicle deployment and root-cause analysis Combine cloud technologies with on prem HILs to test 24x7 and create dashboards to track test progress and track down issues Deliver highly reliable SW through metrics monitoring and automated testing Debug complex systems, root-cause failure modes, and deploy effective solutions Collaborate with cross-functional partners in HW, fleet infra., and autonomy SW to accelerate validation and on-road deployment of the Nuro Driver About You Domain experience: Experience developing cloud infrastructure and web services, in robotics or autonomous driving systems Technical excellence: Proven ability to deep dive into complex simulation and test systems, programming in Python, with (at least) reading ability of C++/C code for triaging SW issues AI capabilities : Experience using generative AI tooling to create programs and test cases. 2+ years of experience with a bachelor's or master's degree, or a Ph.D. degree, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field Clear and concise communicator who collaborates effectively with engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders Bonus Points Experience working with robotics HW + SW systems, including testing, calibration, and field diagnostics Experience with programming in C++, C, or Go Experience with sensors, such as cameras, lidar, radar, GPS, or microphones. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and network programming At Nuro, your base pay is one part of your total compensation package. For this position, the reasonably expected base pay range is between $125,000 and $188,000 for the level at which this job has been scoped. Your base pay will depend on several factors, including your experience, qualifications, education, location, and skills. We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years. Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way.
