Our mission is to enhance the development velocity of the Advertising business while ensuring that our products are inherently secure. We are looking for a talented Security Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will have the opportunity to make significant contributions to securing essential web applications and services that are crucial for delivering exceptional customer and partner experiences at scale in Amazon Ads. If you have a strong background in security program management, experience in establishing security standards for cross-cloud deployments, and a deep understanding of cloud security—especially within AWS platforms—you may be the perfect fit for this position. You will conduct independent security reviews, oversee necessary penetration tests, and provide vital guidance to stakeholders on remediation strategies to integrate security effectively into their application platforms. Key Responsibilities: Ensure applications across Ads platforms are designed and executed to meet the highest security standards. Tackle diverse security challenges from novel threats in Ads services to implementing scalable security features, including key management solutions and encrypted storage. Act as a subject matter expert, advising developers on secure product development and promoting a security-conscious culture. Collaborate with service and platform owners to advocate for security best practices and tool implementation. Perform comprehensive security assessments on SaaS implementations, data management systems, and reporting frameworks used by Amazon Ads teams and customers. Coordinate and oversee penetration testing activities for various platforms and tools. Identify security risks, report findings, and recommend complex security solutions using existing detection frameworks or creating new ones. Contribute to fostering a strong security culture at Amazon through knowledge sharing and collaborative efforts. Engage in cross-team projects aimed at enhancing the security posture of Amazon and customer data throughout its lifecycle. A Typical Day:
Your responsibilities will include identifying security issues, approving mitigation plans for Ads products, influencing product teams and leadership to maintain high security standards, advising development teams on security features, proposing strategic security initiatives, and developing training programs to enhance security awareness. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. 3+ years of programming experience in languages such as Python, Ruby, Go, Swift, Java, .Net, C++, or similar. 5+ years of experience in areas such as threat modeling, secure coding, identity management, software development, cryptography, and system/network security. Experience in implementing security solutions at a business division level or equivalent. Preferred Qualifications: Proficiency with programming languages like Python, Java, C++. Experience with AWS products and services. Understanding of service-oriented architecture and web services security. Knowledge of system security vulnerabilities and remediation techniques, including penetration testing. Familiarity with network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, UDP, IPSEC, HTTP, HTTPS).
