What You Will Be Doing Design, develop, and manage ETL workflows to extract, transform, and load data from both legacy and modern systems using Python, Java, SQL, or other technologies. Create integration solutions to facilitate seamless data exchange between municipal applications and external vendors. Partner with the Database Administration team to structure and optimize databases for enhanced performance and accessibility. Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and compliance with regulatory standards such as CJIS. Leverage APIs, web services, and direct database connections to enable real-time and batch data processing. Assess vendor data integration requests and develop balanced solutions that provide controlled access to curated datasets. Collaborate with integration specialists to enhance system interoperability and automate workflows. Diagnose and resolve data inconsistencies, failures, and performance issues through root cause analysis. Work with system administrators to enforce data security and access control best practices. Support Business Intelligence (BI) initiatives by structuring data, developing dashboards, and enabling self-service analytics for users. Document data workflows, integrations, and system dependencies for transparency and maintainability. Develop data migration strategies to modernize city resources, including database upgrades and cloud/hybrid integrations. Perform data analysis to uncover trends, insights, and strategic opportunities. Engage with business leaders, analysts, and department heads to gather requirements and align BI solutions with organizational goals. Train and assist business users in leveraging BI tools for data-driven decision-making. Research and recommend software tools, platforms, and third-party solutions to meet evolving business and technical needs. Conduct unit testing, integration testing, and code reviews to maintain software quality and reliability. Drive continuous improvement by refining development processes, implementing best practices, and enhancing productivity. What You Will Need Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related discipline. At least three years of hands-on experience in Data Engineering, Integration Engineering, Data Analysis, or a comparable role. Proficiency with BI platforms like Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik, along with strong skills in SQL, Python, or other scripting/ETL languages. In-depth knowledge of database management systems (e.g., MS SQL Server, MySQL), including design and optimization techniques. Expertise in data modeling, including star and snowflake schemas, as well as dimensional modeling. Practical experience with ETL frameworks and tools such as SSIS, Talend, or Apache Airflow. Understanding of data integration methods, including APIs, SFTP, message queues, and XML/JSON data exchanges. Experience in developing data visualizations and interactive dashboards. Familiarity with data warehousing principles and platforms. Ability to write clear, well-documented code and provide technical assistance to business users. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical challenges. Excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders. Experience with project management methodologies and tools. Solid grasp of business analysis techniques, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation.
