Information Systems Security Engineer 2 Annapolis Junction, MD

Job Title: Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) The ISSE shall perform or review technical security assessments of computing environments to identify vulnerabilities, ensure compliance with Information Assurance (IA) standards and regulations, and recommend mitigation strategies. Responsibilities include validating system security requirements, designing and integrating IA and security systems for networking and enclave environments, and supporting security architecture development. Key duties involve building IA into operational systems, assisting in security functionality implementation, assessing and mitigating security threats, and contributing to security planning, risk analysis, certification, and awareness activities. The role also requires reviewing certification and accreditation documentation for completeness and compliance, and applying system security engineering expertise across various domains including risk management, intrusion detection, and security testing. The ISSE supports security authorization activities in compliance with NSA/CSS and DoD RMF processes, NIST standards, and NSA/CSS business processes. Qualifications: Certification meeting IAM Tier 2 requirements Full understanding of RMF processes and procedures Experience with NIST 800-53 security controls and vulnerability scans Strong communication skills Relevant ISSO, ISSM, and/or ISSE experience in cybersecurity Experience providing technical support from a System Administration or Systems Engineering perspective Experience supporting the Intelligence Community's RMF processes Ability to interpret Security Directives, Policies, and Regulations Minimum of 14 years of experience as an ISSE on similar programs and contracts. A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Assurance, or related field is required; alternatively, 4 years of experience can substitute for a degree. DoD 8570.01-M IASAE Level 2 compliance and CISSP certification are required.
