Accountable for performing a full range of microbiological/serological, microscopic examinations, hematological, immunohematological, histological, cytologic and cytogenetic examinations.

Examples of Duties
Data entry of laboratory data into RESource, SART and Bio-Rad computer systems; performs semen analyses, prepare semen samples for intrauterine inseminations, conduct antisperm antibody testing as well as all endocrine testing on Immulite machines (i.e. TSH, Prolactin, E2, P4, LH, FSH); conducts the full range of chemical and microscopic tests bacteriological, immunological and serological and examinations of blood, gametes and tissue; may work in other disciplines of the lab; performs general laboratory maintenance including preparation of solutions, tissue culture media and materials, sets up cells for tissue culture, prepares slides; reports test results, may interpret test results; checks specimen labels for appropriateness/accuracy, performs immunoassay; maintains patient confidentiality within HIPAA regulations; assist in preparing monthly report; keeps records and inventory; performs and documents quality control procedures and instrument preventive maintenance; performs other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications Required – Knowledge, Skills and Ability
Considerable knowledge of chemistry, hematology, histology, biology, bacteriology, microbiology, serology, immunoassay; considerable knowledge of laboratory instrumentation including computers; knowledge of standard clinical laboratory procedures including safety practices; knowledge of scientific methods; interpersonal skills; oral and written communication skills; ability to work quickly and accurately under stressful conditions
Experience and Training
Bachelor’s degree in medical Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Cytogenetic Technology or a related field, and two years of experience
Working Conditions
Incumbents in this class are exposed to disagreeable odors, infectious and other hazardous materials. Work requires visual strain due to prolonged/extended close examination of specimens. Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
