Within the USO, our administrative operations are primarily housed in the Trinity Washington Building located in downtown Atlanta. Our Information Technology Services (ITS) division is located in Athens. The University System of Georgia Shared Services Center (SSC) is located in Sandersville. The Georgia Public Library System is located in Atlanta. The Georgia Archives is located in Morrow. The State of Georgia Records Center is located in Austell. Job Summary Associate Cybersecurity Analysts, under the direction of their supervisor, use a range of tools and techniques to identify and protect information system assets. This is an entry level position that may be assigned to tasks from a range of responsibilities, including assisting with routine monitoring of systems, products or services for anomalous activity, identification of unauthorized intrusions, vulnerabilities and threats, or assisting with risk and compliance efforts. The associate implements and utilizes tools in support of managed services such as awareness training, operations and incident response, vulnerability management and forensics, governance and review, and/or infrastructure support. Responsibilities Job duties typically include detecting and communicating cyber threats and implementing security measures to protect computer systems and the information they store, transmit, and process. Through collecting and processing intelligence from a range of sources, cybersecurity analysts are encouraged to develop a basic understanding of contemporaneous cyber threats to understand methods, motives, and means of cyber-criminals. They are also instrumental in preventing data loss and service interruptions by identifying cybersecurity weaknesses, and compliance gaps. Cybersecurity analysts may assist in researching emerging technologies to protect business assets effectively. Additional duties may also include: Testing continuity of operations and disaster recovery plans Performing risk assessments and testing of information systems Analyze system logs and perform related security measures Evaluating and recommending security enhancements and purchases Cross-training colleagues on cybersecurity skills and procedures Participation in System-wide cybersecurity activities Few overnight travel requirements Other duties, as assigned Required Qualifications Educational Requirements An undergraduate degree in computer science, programming, engineering or a related field. Candidates with specialized knowledge in information security, cybersecurity, information assurance, or risk management, obtained through experience or formal training programs in lieu of a college degree may be considered. Other Required Qualifications United States citizenship is required to facilitate strategic information sharing with (Federal Government) partners. Required Experience Experience with cybersecurity tools and technologies that help to identify threats and risks. Preferred Qualifications Additional Preferred Qualifications Analysts Understanding daily IT operations, such as administering physical security, network systems, servers, storage, user administration, and applications administration are also skills we desire. Analysts are also expected to have excellent writing and speaking skills, facilitating effective communication with both IT- and non-IT colleagues across the University System of Georgia. The ability to apply logic and unconventional approaches to solving puzzles and problems are also qualities we seek. Preferred Experience At least one year experience in Cybersecurity or IT operations as a systems, network, database, or web administrator. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities ABILITIES 1. Ability to work independently, as required 2. Employee in this role occasionally lift light and heavy objects, typically less than 50 pounds. 3. The work is typically performed in an office and requires long periods of time sitting while using a variety of computer-based tools KNOWLEDGE 1. Familiarity with the University System of Georgia policies and procedures. 2. Familiarity with IT systems cybersecurity principles and practices. SKILLS 1. Familiarity with installation, maintenance and repair of computer hardware and software. 2. Familiarity with a wide variety of software systems. 3. Skill in collaborating with multiple constituents having competing priorities.
