Purpose
To develop journey-level skills through training on skilled work within the specific trade assignment. Responsible for learning skills in the operation, maintenance and repair of the trade assignment, and to perform such work to the limit of their experience. Responsibilities
Learns Utilities Plumber skills by installing, maintaining, operating, and repairing Mechanical Distribution systems including water mains, sewer mains, natural gas piping, water meters and pumps. Use tools and equipment to perform the duties of the trade assignments as outlined in the Utilities Plumber job description. Follow all University and UEM safety policies and procedures, take required safety training, and identify and report safety hazards. Perform work tasks in a safe manner, wear the proper personal protective equipment, and report near misses and incidents. Abide by Utilities and Energy Management's set of core values: Safety, Respect, Integrity, Reliability, Teamwork, and Excellence. Informs appropriate personnel of unusual conditions, problems, or deficiencies as related to equipment and corrects as necessary. Carry and respond to calls on a UT-provided cell phone during work hours and on-call hours. Drive a UT vehicle. Maintain acceptable driving record as required by UT System Policy UTS157 Perform other related functions as assigned. Perform work in accordance with industry-standard trade practices to ensure conformity to standards, quality and quantity as determined by journey-level employee or supervisor inspection. Diploma (High School) or GED and four years of related experience. Skilled construction and maintenance of equipment or apparatus of the type related to the position. Driving Required
This job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
